We are a local renovation team based in Ottawa. Our work covers home updates, repairs, and full room makeovers. Under Olexandr’s (Alex’s) lead, Be Leaf Renovation Inc. focuses on careful work and clear, honest service. Ottawa is our home, and most of our projects are in neighborhoods we know well.

So, how did it all begin?

Alex started working in the trade in 2004. He began as an apprentice, helping with repairs and small rebuilds in his community. Those early jobs showed him how homes really come together. After years of hands-on work, he opened his own bussines in 2018.

The Be Leaf Renovation began as a small crew handling bathroom upgrades. As more projects came in, Alex brought in certified workers with strong skills in plumbing, electrical work, and drywall. We still remember our first few clients. We still think about some of our early clients. One elderly man called us with a single word—“Help!” His previous contractor had done part of the demolition and started laying tiles, took the deposit, and never returned. We stepped in, finished the bathroom with proper care, and he later sent warm feedback that meant a lot to us.

Another family reached out because their bathroom had already been “finished,” but the tiles were uneven and the gaps were large. Our workers removed the poorly laid tiles and replaced them with new ones. It took time, but the result looked clean and straight, and the couple left happy.

Some clients even called back later with a friendly “Can you also look at our kitchen?” That pattern continued. People who hired us for a bathroom often returned for other rooms. Their support helped us grow. Many left kind reviews that still mean a lot to us. We read each one, and it reminds us why we care about each project.

The Be Leaf Renovation hires many tilers, painters, 3D modelers, licensed plumbers and electricians, who perform their work with high quality. Tom and Lily keep the work organized and make sure the project moves forward on time. Our team brings different skills to the table, which helps each project run better from start to finish.

Lily—Our Creativity
Marketing Manager, Designer

Develops the look of branding, videos, animations, or marketing materials; ensures everyone follows a consistent visual language, defines the overall visual style and mood.

Lily is a great creative professional with so many skills in visual communication, graphic design, animation and marketing. She has all of this expertise because she holds her Master’s degree in Graphic Design and an advanced diploma in Animation. She learned how to work with both traditional and digital tools and extended her knowledge.

She began taking on real projects while still at the Academy of Arts. It helped her to create branding, marketing images, and 3D visuals for many clients.

Lily also built a strong path in teaching. She taught many students at the Academy of Arts and at Algonquin College in Ottawa, helping them learn design and animation.

Lily began to work with Alex as a freelancer in 2018. And slowly became a valuable unifying glue of our team as a full employee. Today, in the Be Leaf Renovation crew, she works as a Marketing Manager and helps with branding and guides others to ensure that the visual style of our company stays consistent.

Tom—Our Precision
Project Manager, IT Support

Handles planning, logistics, measurements, materials, scheduling, and ensures everything is feasible and efficient.

Tom's background includes restaurant management, retail leadership, and cybersecurity studies. This mix helps him stay precise, focused on clients, and strong in daily operations.

Before joining the renovation field, Tom spent many years managing restaurants. He learned how to lead teams, manage time, and keep work moving under pressure.

His retail experience strengthened his customer service skills. He learned to really listen to our clients, explain plans in plain terms, and adjust when needs changed.

His cybersecurity training made him more careful with details and more organized in how he plans work. These habits support accurate measurements, careful planning, and clear project workflows in Be Leaf projects.

He gained strong knowledge of interior renovation through training at the Schluter Systems Innovation Workshop in Kingston, Ontario.

Today, Tom brings these skills to Be Leaf Renovation. He coordinates timelines with others, organizes trades, and watches the details that matter. His main goal is steady progress and well-finished work clients can trust.

Meet Alex—The Vision

Communicates with clients, translates needs into concepts, creates solutions, and defines the project’s personality.

Our company was founded by Alex, whose interest in building started early. He grew up as the son of an engineer who worked in construction. His father designed their family home and led a large team (approximately 1000 people) that created hydraulic structures, rafts, and aqueducts used to bring water to towns and villages. Alex spent much of his childhood watching how buildings were planned, repaired, and built from the ground up. Those years shaped the way he sees materials, structure, and the effort behind every project.

At 18, Alex began working with wood and earned a Diploma of a Qualified Worker as a woodcarver and bark craftsman. His artistic pursuits led him to earn a Master's degree in monumental painting, where he honed his understanding of materials and techniques for wall decoration such as mosaic, fresco, gold plating, wooden inserts, various types of acrylic. Alex began performing interior restoration and repair work in 2004.

He first painted interiors, then moved on to more complex work, including installing a custom cabinet with detailed joints. Not long after, he was trusted with a full bathroom project. He finished it in two weeks—from demolition to placing the final handle on the cabinet door.

In time, Alex felt ready to build something of his own. He started his own renovation bussiness in 2018. He wanted a company that focused on strong workmanship and artistic beauty and that vision led him to start Be Leaf Renovation.
